This Workshop will target, among others, inventors, patent holders and researchers from the Caribbean and will provide them with the necessary knowledge on how to commercialize their research findings.  The program is designed to train participants on the elements of entrepreneurship in relation to the demand of the knowledge and innovation economy.  They will also be taught a systematic approach on how to create and build successful businesses which are based on, and driven by, technology.
Among those attending the Board Meeting in Kuala Lumpur were: Datuk Dr. Ewan Ebin, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Malaysia, Dr. Alejandro Cruz Molina, Minister of Science and Technology, Costa Rica, Professor Maged Al-Sherbiny, Assistant Minister of Scientific Research, Egypt, Professor Gretchen Kalonji, Assistant Director General, UNESCO and Senator Professor Harold Ramkissoon from Trinidad and Tobago.
The Board Meeting took place during ISTIC’s 5th Anniversary Conference which was officially opened by Dr. Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO.  Senator Professor Ramkissoon participated in a panel discussion on this Conference on “Addressing the Needs of High and Green Technology Industries in Developing Countries”.  Dr. Permanand Mohan, Senior Lecturer, Department of Computing and Information Technology, Faculty of Science and Technology, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine also participated in the Conference.
